FIND A MEHKO NEAR YOU

MEHKOs are small food businesses run from permitted home kitchens. Created under California law, they give local home cooks a way to safely and legally sell freshly made meals directly to their customers.

MEHKO operators complete food safety training, receive a health permit, and have their kitchens inspected by the local health department. Designed to stay small-scale and hyper-local, MEHKOs help home cooks turn their culinary skills into legitimate businesses.

PRESENTING LA MEHKO WEEK

Who is
COOK Alliance?

LA MEHKO Week is presented by COOK Alliance, the nonprofit organization leading the MEHKO movement. We work to expand opportunity for home-based culinary entrepreneurs across California through education, technical assistance, and policy advocacy. We believe success doesn't end with a permit. Our organization is dedicated to helping home-based food businesses thrive.

Through our programming, we’re building a new, accessible pathway to culinary entrepreneurship for those traditionally denied one.
